Wilderness

Step outside of Longyearbyen and into the wilderness, spend two nights in a tented camp in the wild and try to spot the Aurora Borealis. Look for wildlife hiding between snowy peaks and vast white landscapes.

Huskies

Experience and learn the adventurous way of travelling with a husky sled. Throughout your trip, you will need to take care of your own team, but don’t worry – your guide will be on hand to help and will show you how to harness your dogs and mush your own team.

Day 1: Arrive Longyearbyen

Upon arrival into Longyearbyen, you will be transferred by a Basecamp Explorer representative to your hotel to check in, settle in and enjoy a light lunch. Spend the rest of the day at your leisure exploring this arctic settlement, with 2,100 residents from almost 50 different countries.

Day 2: Longyearbyen - Bolterdalen – Tented Camp

Once you’ve harnessed your husky team, you will head out into Bolterdalen towards Isfjord Radio and experience your first lunch in the wilderness. Set up camp approximately halfway to Isfjord Radio, and spend the night outside underneath the stars, you may even spot the Northern Lights.

Day 3: Tented Camp - Isfjord Radio

After breakfast, you will head out with your guide and team for a short dog sled trip before returning to the station in time for a hot lunch. Later in the day you will arrive into Isfjord Radio where you will be welcomed by your host, and enjoy a three-course meal.

Day 4: Isfjord Radio

After breakfast, you will head out with your guide and team for a short dog sled trip before returning to the station in time for a hot lunch. The afternoon will be spent on a guided tour of the station area, followed by a three-course dinner.

Day 5: Isfjord Radio – Tented Camp

Today you will begin the journey back to civilisation! Along the return route you will make some interesting stops. In the afternoon, set up camp and make dinner for you and your team before getting some rest before your early start in the morning.

Day 6: Tented Camp - Longyearbyen

Today you will complete the last leg of the journey back to Longyearbyen with your incredible team of dogs leading the way. Once you reach Basecamp Trapper’s Station, you will have time to care for your tired team before returning to Longyearbyen in the afternoon.

Day 7: Longyearbyen - Depart

Today signals the end of your unforgettable journey in Svalbard. After your morning at leisure, you will be transferred by a Basecamp Explorer representative from your hotel lobby back to the airport to begin your journey home.
