A remote outpost

Isfjord Radio is a solitude outpost far from civilization, with no road connection and offers a unique wilderness accommodation experience about 90 km from Longyearbyen.

The radio station was built in 1933 and although unassuming from the outside, as you enter you will be surprised by an modern hotel with an inviting and cosy rooms and shared living spaces.

Accommodation & Facilities

The hotel consists of a main building and two separate houses containing bedrooms. Every building has separate toilets and washrooms with shower. As this is a wilderness hotel, please be aware that whilst outside the hotel, you need a guide with rifle for polar bear protection at all times. The sauna is situated on the edge of the tundra, perfect after a day filled with arctic adventures to relax admiring the incredible arctic views over the Isfjorden and Forlandet islands.

At Isfjord Radio they receive local Svalbard produce from one of the three remaining trappers on Svalbard, and their chefs create fine dining experiences inspired by the Arctic region.
