Sand Rivers Camp Selous Tanzania

The elephant population in Nyerere has been affected by poaching, and Sand Rivers supports the elephant research programme run by Tanzania Wildlife Research Institute (TAWIRI) by collecting data to help the plan for their protection.

Sand Rivers Dining

  • You can enjoy a cooked breakfast as well as cereals, toast and fruits. Breakfast can be served in the bush after an early morning game drive and Stiegler's Gorge also offers the perfect breakfast spot on a sandbank.
  • Lunch is usually a buffet with salads, meats and potatoes and afternoon tea is served at 4pm with tea, coffees and cakes.
  • Monday to Saturday the dinner menus comprise of 3 courses of a mixture of western and Tanzanian dishes. Sunday dinners are traditionally a barbecue night at dinner.
  • All soft drinks, house wines, local beers and a range of popular spirits are included, however, Champagne and certain imported spirits extra.
