Pernille is a lover of adventure and all things nature. Since 2006 she has spent the boreal summers working as a rafting guide in Norway and California. Having first journeyed to the world's polar regions in 2012, she was instantly hooked. She has nine seasons in Antarctica under her belt working and is equally at home working as an Assistant Expedition Leader, Kayak Guide and Zodiac Driver - the more wildlife and water, the better.
Since 2016 she has worked in the Arctic, guiding in Svalbard and both East and West Greenland. Photography is a challenge that Pernille enjoys, so when the situation allows, she has fun capturing her the surroundings, especially when big wildlife appears. When not exploring, Pernille is a competitive boulderer and indoor climber, competing both nationally and internationally. Her travels and competitions have brought her to climbing destinations all over Europe. Being handy in a raft, Pernille competed for the Danish National Team in the World Cup in China.
She also spends time white-water rafting and kayaking, sea kayaking, surfing, mountain biking and hiking, in such diverse locations as the United States, Australia, Central and South America, Thailand, Norway, Sweden, Denmark and New Zealand. Pernille is one of the co-founders of the Expedition Guide Academy where she works training and developing current and aspiring expedition guides.
Pernille appreciates working with people, especially when it takes place among Mother Nature. Furthermore, she treasures informing and educating people on Arctic and Antarctic wildlife, much like her ex-whaler grandfather did when he toured Europe and the U.S. in the 1950s. Having gained a Bachelor in Social Anthropology, she is currently halfway through a Master's degree in Copenhagen. Pernille speaks Danish, Swedish, English, enough Norwegian and heaps of Kiwi.
