Day 1: Arrive Belize City - Orange Walk

After arriving in Belize City, you will be met before being met by a member of our friendly team and transferred privately approximately 4 hours to Chan Chich. This is an excellent ecofriendly destination in the heart of La Selva Maya, an area of pristine rainforest that provides a sanctuary for flora and fauna.

Days 2 - 4: Orange Walk Activities

During your three days at Chan Chich, you have the following onsite activities included:

  • Day & Night Safari Drives
  • Horseback Riding
  • Bird Watching
  • Canoeing on boat tours around Laguna Seca
  • Nine miles of well-maintained trails for hiking and exploring, alone or guided
  • A tour of the Gallon Jug Farm, home to many species
  • A tour to Laguna Seca, the nearby wetland habitat often patrolled by a troop of spider monkeys

Day 5: Orange Walk - Mountain Pine Ridge Reserve

Today you will be transferred approximately 2 hours to the Mountain Pine Ridge Reserve in western Belize. Please note the transfer is operated by Chan Chich Lodge and part of the journey is on unpaved road which can be a bit bumpy.

Day 6: Barton Creek & Butterfly Sanctuary

This morning head on a day tour of Barton Creek and the Butterfly Sanctuary. Watch flocks of colourful butterflies’ flutter and feed in a beautifully landscaped, tropical environment at the Belize Butterfly Farm. Learn about the amazing lifecycle of the butterfly and compare the colours and contrasts of caterpillars and cocoons. Next head to the Upper Barton Creek community for a tranquil, low-intensity adventure in a watery cave tour, great for couples and families. Gently paddle your canoe along scenic Barton Creek and venture into the cave system known as a Mayan underworld. Stalactites hang high overhead as you float past impressive calcite crystal formations in cathedral-like chambers. Knowledgeable guides leading the tour explain how the ancient Maya used the 7.5-kilometre cave as a ceremonial centre and burial site.

Day 7: Caracol Mayan Ruins

Located deep within the Chiquibul Forest Reserve, Caracol is the largest known Maya site in Belize, and used to have an estimated population of around 180,000 people. After a picnic lunch at the ruins, you will head to the Rio Frio cave which is more like a naturally formed tunnel than a cave.

Day 8: Day at Leisure

The day is yours to explore the jungle surrounding area either by yourselves choose from one of the included activities at your lodge: sunrise guided birding experience, use of all hiking trails, use of bikes and river tubes, guided river tubing, eco-initiatives property tour and organic garden tour.

Day 9: Depart Belize City
