An exciting safari to the stunning regions of northern Norway and Svalbard allowing you to enjoy the adventurous activities this area is known for. Take in the stunning Arctic landscapes and hopefully see the Northern Lights too!

Take in the sights of the mountains and fjords around the lodge while hiking through the snow, mushing your own husky team or trying a spot of ice fishing. Moving on from Tromso, you travel even further north to Longyearbyen in the Arctic. Here you will have chance to try alternative versions of these snowy activities as you explore during the polar night. The small amount of light that gets through at this time of year creates a magical glow on the horizon which is a completely unique experience.

Arctic Activities

Arrive in Tromso and transfer to the boutique Lyngen Lodge by boat or by driving around the fjord. Spend the next three days enjoying a host of Arctic activities and dining on Lyngen Lodge's exquisite cuisine. The day you arrive, the expedition leaders will give you a welcome talk and discuss your possible activity plans. The optional activities at Lyngen Lodge depend on the time of year you travel and of course the weather but the majority of guests like to enjoy dog sledding, snowmobiling and a sea safari. Head out onto Lyngen Fjord and to the surrounding islands where you can cruise under the enormous cliffs of the Lyngen National Park, home to numerous stunning birds of prey; visit the hanging glaciers north of the Lyngen Peninsula; circumnavigate the picturesque islands of Uløya and Follesøya or visit the iconic fishing port of Havnnes, a National Heritage site of historic importance

Longyearbyen

Transfer back to Tromso for your flight to Longyearbyen. On arrival, check into your hotel. This afternoon, you will be met by your guide and taken to the dog yard for another chance to practice your dog sledding skills, with an afternoon husky trip in the eerie light of the polar night. Depending on the weather, your guide will pick a route and you will explore the stunning Arctic landscapes of Spitsbergen with your team of dogs! Back at the trapper's station you will warm yourself with hot drinks and biscuits before heading back to

Snow Mobile Dark Driving

This morning, your guide will meet you in the reception of your hotel. You will then discuss possible routes and equipment needed for your polar night snowmobile safari. You will be given your warm Arctic clothing, such as an overall and winter boots. You will then be taken to your snowmobile. It is now time for you to begin your snowmobile adventure in the high Arctic! The trip takes you about 60 km round trip in the polar night, weaving past narrow frozen riverbeds and through big valleys and past snow covered glaciers. Even when you are covered in darkness, the polar night gives a surprising amount of light. You will stop on numerous occasions to take in the spectacular views. White snow, stars, moon and Northern Lights – an incredible experience!

Snow-shoeing

Today you get to experience how the trapper’s used to hunt in the polar night – on snow shoes! You will be equipped with headlamps, poles and snow shoes, and with your guide you will set off on a hike around Longyearbyen, Larsbreen or Breinosa to explore the area in the peace and tranquility allowed when you travel by foot under the Northern Lights.
