There is a magnificent multi-coloured plumage of parrots such as the endemic to Dominica Sisserou parrot, which is the national bird of Dominica and appears on the country's flag. It is one of the world's rarest and most endangered parrot species and is known for its vibrant green plumage and colourful markings. The Jacquot Parrot is a subspecies of the Sisserou parrot and is found on the neighboring island of Martinique. Efforts are being made to protect and conserve this critically endangered parrot. Another native parrot species in Dominica, the Red-necked Amazon parrot is slightly more common than the Sisserou. Both species can be spotted in the island's rainforests.
