Day 1: Arrive Victoria Falls

On arrival at Victoria Falls airport you will be met by our local representative and driven to Pioneers Victoria Falls Hotel. The rest of the day is at leisure. Known also by its indigenous name, Mosi-oa-Tunya 'the smoke that thunders', Victoria Falls is the largest waterfall in the world.

Situated in the quiet suburbs of Victoria Falls’ residential area, 2.5 kilometres from the Falls. Pioneers offers 50 elegant en-suite rooms all designed to embrace the Zimbabwean Pioneer era, with private verandas overlooking the garden and pool. All rooms at Pioneers are air conditioned and have free limited WiFi. The lodge has four family rooms making it ideal for families. At the heart of the lodge is a snug lounge, an indoor and outdoor dining area, curio shop, as well as a terrace opening onto the pool and garden area. Activities in Victoria Falls (at an additional cost) can be arranged at the activities desk.

Days 2 - 3: Victoria Falls

At Victoria Falls, the earth splits open and swallows one of Africa’s greatest rivers, the mighty Zambezi, creating the largest sheet of falling water on earth. Boats cruise the tranquil water at sunset while the distant spray catches the fading light downstream.

Victoria Falls

The spectacular Victoria Falls are the most visited attraction in Zimbabwe and understandably so. The Falls are almost one mile wide and offer some of the most impossibly scenic viewpoints in the continent, with a mist spray that can reach almost 400 metres high after the water has plummeted 110 metres into the Batoka Gorge before continuing its journey.

Day 4: Victoria Falls – Hwange National Park

Today after breakfast, you are collected from your hotel and transferred by road, south through the teak forest to your camp. The famed elephant population is one of the largest in the world and it has plentiful predator populations such as lion, leopard and cheetah.

Hwange National Park

Once the royal hunting ground of King Mzilikazi, Hwange National Park is now considered one of the greatest conservation areas in Africa. Proclaimed in 1929, here you will find a tremendous selection of wildlife and almost all of Zimbabwe’s specially protected animals. The 14,650 kilometre square area consists mainly of scrublands and stunted scattered woodlands with the well drained north dominated by mopane and mixed terminalia. Hwange has absolutely no shortage of wildlife, with over 100 mammal species, 400 birds and 100 trees and shrubs. It is world renowned for its huge elephant herds which roam the park, wallowing in the muddy watering holes. There is a fantastic population of wild dog and lion sightings are common, but leopard and rhino are seen only by the lucky. Other wildlife includes cheetah, giraffe, sable, eland, waterbuck, zebra, baboon and warthog, as well as over 400 bird species. Here you can find the impressive ground dwelling kori bustard and during mating season, crowned cranes perform comical dances for each other.

Days 5 - 7: Hwange National Park

As Zimbabwe’s largest national park, Hwange has a sizeable reputation and has one of Africa’s last strongholds of endangered African wild dogs. The sight of hundreds, if not thousands of elephants and buffalos streaming towards you as you sit at a waterhole is indescribable.

Day 8: Hwange National Park – Depart Victoria Falls

Today after breakfast and check-out at a time to be advised locally, you are collected from your camp and transferred to Manga Airstrip for your light aircraft flight to Victoria Falls International Airport. On arrival at Victoria Falls International Airport you will catch your connecting flight home.

    I'd travel with Natural World Safaris again because they put together a beautiful trip for us. The lodges were all 5-star, king-size beds, gourmet meals, and guides whose knowledge was amazing.
