Morten Joergensen

POLAR GUIDE & EXPEDITION LEADER

Morten was born in Copenhagen and has always loved the natural environment and especially its wildlife. He has travelled throughout his life, as a child living with his parents in Afghanistan, Tanzania and Malaysia, while later as an adult visiting all continents. Since 1997, he has been in the Arctic, and since 1999 in Antarctica, working on small cruise ships as guide, lecturer, zodiac driver and expedition leader. He has also worked in the Pacific and Indian Oceans. From 2014 onwards, Morten has also been producing his own tours, when not free-lancing for others.

Since the mid-nineteen-eighties, Morten has been an active ornithologist, a passion that has been supplemented with a love for marine mammals, whales and dolphins, seals and polar bears alike. Developing a particular passion for the plight of the polar bear, Morten has dedicated a special focus to their conservation since 2013, and has writ-ten two books on the topic. Being also a keen photographer, he has richly illustrated those books, and continues to work on both polar bears and photography.

Morten is a skilled observer of wildlife, be it birds, mammals or other living beings. Morten enjoys sharing the adventure of visiting remote areas with fellow passengers, and he also values the opportunity to point out to visitors the sensitivity of the wilderness and its inhabitants, stressing key points of vulnerability, conservation and sustainability.
